I have always asked newcomers to New Orleans why they had chosen that city to start anew.
Answers always varied. Sometimes it was school or job relocation.
I think above all, most sought adventure, however unwilling they were to admit it.
They had seen photos, heard stories recounted, and read blogs.
Having been a lifelong resident, I loved to see this allure, perhaps due to the fact that the novelty had long ago worn off for me. I’ve been known to be a bit jaded and/or bitter. ;)
Seeing this always refreshed me and managed to lift my spirits.
I get it. I see the allure, the charm.
I can go back and read my own blog posts of drunken (and sober) revelry, and mischief run amok.
And I wonder what it must be like to live in such a city where such things are embraced.
I’m moving to New Orleans tomorrow, and I can’t wait.
Oh, the adventures I’ll have.

I have live in New Orleans coming up on five years. I have never, never felt so at home as I do here. Is it the excitement? Of course. The music, the food, the history, the revelry, the *life*. It’s in my blood now.
Is that corny? I reckon so. But I know that no matter where I live no where will feel like the Crescent City. I know that if I leave I will be back. And I know that I don’t want to ever leave.
This city is my home. I’m home.

Hey, I’ll be back this weekend and househunting. I should be in town over the weekend to go check on the damned sparcys and stuff, too.
