So, overall, haven’t been feeling overly post-y. And tonight is no exception, but I actually have some content to write up tomorrow, and I will.

But before then, I have a correction on my last post. While the underlying riff may be similar-ish, I (and Bea) had the wrong song, which we discovered when Bea went back and checked every Opeth track. The track she was whistling was “Porcelain Heart“, but perhaps more specifically a more subdued version called “Mellotron Heart” – Not quite as heavy/metal as ‘Porcelain‘ or The Grand Conjuration, but excellent track(s) still. You can enjoy good quality versions of them here, if you so desire. More on the album via Amazon.

Unfortunately (for me), Mr. Åkerfeldt doesn’t get to do the switch from Cookie Monster to clean style vocals that he does so well, but I feel it’s a haunting song, and I think the video does it justice. And similar to The Grand Conjuration, the video is a full 3 minutes shorter than the song. Both are really worth giving a listen – they’re quite different from the last post, if you couldn’t quite stomach it.

While in the shower, I heard her whistling what I first thought was a track by Opeth. I pretty much wrote it off as her trying to whistle the theme song to Eureka (which we had just watched an episode of) and getting it wrong, when I realized she WAS whistling Opeth’s The Grand Conjuration! \m/

 
The album version of the song is actually twice as long as the radio edit they used for the video. Metal.
 
And yes, I know the phrase from the title is actually “Whistlin’ Dixie”, but the title is the name of the whistling album that my friend Savannah and I want to create. Good old drunken Sunday mornings at Molly’s.

• Truck needs an oil change/transmission fluid/pretty much every fluid change.
• One of the big 5-drawer tool chests is pretty banged up. Waiting ’till above is done to return. Hopefully tomorrow.
• 4 trips to Lowe’s today, got almost all I needed through process of elimination. Then lost a piece.

And now, when I think of Lovecraftian horror, Dagon tends to come to mind even before great Cthulhu. It’s mostly due to Nile and their song, 4th Arra of Dagon. Below is the last, chanting part of the song – the whole song clocks in at just under 9 minutes. I /really/ like it when the chorus chants at about 30 seconds in.

A few years ago I stumbled across two different “fan offerings” that I instantly connected with – Silence! The Musical and The Greenskeepers song, “Lotion”:

Well, as much as I like that video, someone recently made a video for the Silence! track of a similar inspiration named “Put the Fucking Lotion in the Basket”. The catch is, they did it with Legos, my favorite childhood toy:

The 2009 March of the St. Anthony Ramblers

Drinks and breakfast at 9, march at 10. We are again fortunate to have Panorama Brass Band tour with us throughout the day, and in order to cover the cost of these minstrels and the early morning feast, we ask for a $25 contribution – a paltry sum for such wonderful entertainment.

Hope to see you reveling in the streets tomorrow at one point or another.

I am very seriously considering snagging a ticket to see them play here in November with Down and The Sword.

Guitar Hero, it would seem, has the potential to slowly make the world a better place. Right in front of me, sits Guitar Hero I, II, a PS2, and a guitar controller, all courtesy of The Other Will Who Rides Bikes And Works With Computers™, who is currently biking from Ireland to Greece. But I digress.

Bea’s Mom infected us with Wii-itis – primarily through the basic Sports Package and Guitar Hero III – having a wireless rig is super nice. Bea in short order had rolled through the easy level, mastering pretty much everything that she came across. Except Slayer. It would appear that ‘Raining Blood’ is a weakness of hers, at least in the video gaming world.

I think around that time, I also got an instant message from her, which went something along these lines:

Bea: I think I like Venom.

As you can imagine, I was caught off-guard. Turns out she was referring to was the opening / title track from their album Resurrection. Can’t say I blame her.

Well, now that the entertainment center is taking form, we dusted off the neglected PS2 and fired up Guitar Hero II. The other Will is some sort of GH freak, and has unlocked everything, so we can just go pick out any song in the whole game to play, including my favorite song on the game, Thunderhorse by Dethklok. They also have Strong Bad singing Trogdor – it’s hard.

Apparently, it was stuck in her head all day. And while dropping new/more music into her iPod last night, she included Slayer.

All of it.

Fast forward to this morning (well, rewind now. shutup.):

I would have typed back \m/, but it’s hard to type when you’re actually throwin’ up the horns. Apparently she blogged about this already this morning. Typing using only your index and pinky fingers due to excessive horn throwing is difficult.

And in other metal-related news, another friend of mine appears to be in a metal mood. She though, is in more of the cookie-monster mode. Someone’s gonna be getting a thumbdrive full of Nile, Dethklok, and other sources of complete and utter destruction.

Dethklok is a noticeable omission from this list due to lack of source material on this computer – a situation that is guaranteed to be remedied in short order.
